When
it comes to videotaping cops that’s cool but it isn’t enough.
These police officers are now blatantly committing human rights
violations and abusing their authority and just acting like gangsters
and getting away with it, so we must protect ourselves effectively.
It’s great that this photo depicts people capturing the cop on
video but there should only be one camera present and the rest should
be pointing guns towards this cop; give this cop a warning to calm
down and not abuse his authority or there will be consequences. If he
doesn’t calm down then exert force to protect the human rights of
the victim. People protesting by holding signs about holding their
hands up so cops won’t shoot them aren’t effective. Mike Brown
got killed that way so everyone is going to have to take a proactive
step towards protecting their life and protecting each other’s
human rights. Videotaping creates accountability but it only works if
the person fears retribution that will come from being videotaped.
We’ve seen that there usually isn’t any retribution given to
those in uniform when they violate the human rights of Black people
so we’re going to have to be more proactive in preventing this from
continuing, and continuing to do things that aren’t completely
working isn’t the key. We must learn from what works and if
necessary make modifications to protect ourselves and our human
rights. If it should ever come down to needing to exercise force to
protect our human rights then we must have enough sense to depart the
scene afterwards and not speak on it again. If for whatever reason
the issue should ever come up again then this is where the video
footage of what occurred comes into play to provide an alibi and
explain why alerting the authorities wasn’t viable because it was
in fact the authorities attempting to abuse our human rights.
